Pan Mac Junior Chamber, formerly named Macau Jaycees (International) was established in 1984. The birth of Macau Jaycees (International) can be traced back to the late 1983, when some experienced Jaycees from Hong Kong Junior Chamber of Commerce were assigned with a mission to extend Jaycees movement to Macau. They approached Dr. Jorge A. H. Rangel, that year’s Secretary of Education, Culture & Tourism, and a group of young elites. Subsequently, the organizing committee for the formation of the first JC chapter in Macau was set up. After months of preparation, the first General Meeting was held on March 24, 1984 while the first Board of the First JC Chapter in Macau was elected. Macau Jaycees (International) thus became the 15th LOM of the Hong Kong Junior Chamber of Commerce (HKJCC) in 1984. Before 1988, Jaycees of Macau is affiliated to the HKJCC, a NOM of Junior Chamber International. Macau, in order to become a NOM of JCI, there needed to have two LOMs. With the continuous growth of Jaycees movement in Macau, it led to the birth of the second LOM of Macau, the Hou Kong Jaycees (currently named Hou Kong Junior Chamber) in 1988. Macau Jaycees (currently named Macau Junior Chamber) was successfully adopted by JCI as NOM in 1988. In order to have a clear and separate name from our national chapter – Macau Jaycees, the name of our chapter – Macau Jaycees (International) was therefore a mended in two Extraordinary General Meetings to adopt the name as Pan Mac Jaycees from November 1988 and later to Pan Mac Junior Chamber effective from February, 1995.
